Ghostbusters Day has once again come and passed. And, with a new Ghostbusters feature film on the horizon, you can bet there’s plenty to talk about on the podcast. So Chris and Troy will do their best to talk about the videos, the announcements, the teaser posters, Uncle Dan hitting the morning talk show circuit (and Twitter), and everything else that was dished out to us on the calm before the storm. Plus, the boys try to talk about things happening on the island of Manhattan that may be Ecto related, some upcoming Spirits Unleashed content, merch they’re excited about including the Magnoli “Hunting Jacket,” and more!
#742 - "Chatting Afterlife with Kevin Lim" - November 19, 2021
After a lifetime of waiting, then just a few months of waiting, and then hang on, back to waiting for over a year, then finally back to waiting a few months, nope, waiting more months, then weeks, days, hours, minutes, seconds... Ghostbusters: Afterlife is here. While Troy is still on sabbatical, trying to return an ancient idol to a museum or deciphering prophetic riddles at the Vatican or some such nonsense, Chris has friend of the show Kevin Lim on to help him parse a little bit of what they saw in their first viewing. And if listening to two Ghostbusters nerds chatter way for an hour isn't your thing - dude, you know what we are here, hours of chatter - Kevin brought some treats from The Kevin and Sonia Morning Show on Kiss Radio Vancouver; Mckenna Grace herself! We are spoiler free in the first part, including Kevin's talk with Mckenna, and then we get downright spoilery in the second half. The heroism of Egon, suspiciously high-powered yet underutilized co-stars, who cried when, and what Ms. Grace has to say about a sequel. Let's go!
#606 - "The Return of Moranis" - February 17, 2020
It may not be for the movie franchise for which this podcast focuses but Rick Moranis is making a comeback, and this week we’re talking all about it. First up, Troy and Chris explore Moranis’ decision to return to acting for another Honey I Shrunk the Kids installment (and why didn’t he decide to give Ghostbusters Afterlife a go?). Then in the rest of the show, Bill Murray hits a ProAm, Carrie Coon and McKenna Grace get some press and are you ready for Toy Fair this week? We know we sure are!
#549 - "Ghostbusters Afterlife Trailer A Discussion" - December 12, 2019
An episode release on a Thursday? Have we gone mad? I guess so, because a trailer for GHOSTBUSTERS 3 was released on Monday. We’ve gotta cut into the feed with a special episode. This week on the show, Troy and Chris talk about their reactions to the trailers, their thoughts on some of the teases and what certain elements could mean, and a whole lot more on this special (and long) episode of the Crossrip!
#527 - "Ecto-35 and Mash-Ups" - July 8, 2019
Where to start this week? We’ve got first-hand accounts with Hasbro’s Ecto-35 SDCC exclusive, Paul Rudd joining Ghostbusters (2020), and tons and tons of merch news. First up, Troy and Chris talk about the Optimus Prime gone Ghostbusters that Hasbro was kind enough to send our way, and as it turns out, it sort of fulfilled a childhood dream for Troy. Then, we keep the merch train running including Diamond Select exclusives, Halloween Costumes, Naked and Famous Battle Jackets, and yet another mobile game integration. Rounding out our Ghostbusters (2020) discussion, yes indeed we’ll finally talk about the big news that Paul Rudd has joined Jason Reitman’s Ghostbusters film which begins production shortly in Calgary. Experiencing some deja vu? It might be because this (kinda) all happened back in 2009. Birthday girl McKenna Grace spoke with ET Canada about her reaction to being cast (hint: she freaked out). All that plus some comments on that whole “hallway” thing that happened on social media on this week’s jam-packed Crossrip!
#514 - "The Fam" - April 8, 2019
This week on the show, more casting for Jason Reitman’s Ghostbusters confirmed, a new 35th anniversary home video release, and IDW one-shot talk! First up, the boys catch up after last week’s April Fool’s Yes Have Some episode. Then, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced a UHD 4K release of the original two Ghostbusters films in celebration of the anniversary packed with special features including the Fort Detmerring scene and a few other surprises (including a commentary by this ol’ podcast!). Next up, some casting confirmation for “the fam” as McKenna Grace has been confirmed to join Carrie Coon and Finn Wolfhard in a family with mysterious ties to the original Ghostbusters film. In the last section of the show, we’ll talk about IDW Comics’ excellent 35th Anniversary one-shot. All that, plus your voicemails and a few merch updates, and more in a jam-packed episode of the Crossrip!
