The fine folks over at Ultimate84.com sent over a set of their inkjet and hand-screen printed decal sets made specifically to adorn Ecto-1 replicas and… they are absolutely amazing. For years (decades even) fans have long discussed the best ways to get the classic no-ghost Mooglie onto their Ecto conversions or ‘59 Caddys - Kip Marshall and his team have taken the guess work out and created high-quality and screen accurate decals that make the process easy and effective.
As we talk about in our unboxing video below, screen-accuracy is key in the instance of Ultimate84 as the Ecto-1 that now sits on the Sony Pictures studio backlot parked in front of Ghost Corps is not quite identical to the version that Ivan Reitman and Co. filmed with in the fall of 1983. When two restorations were done decades later, subtle differences emerged on the car. Thanks to modern technology, we can now freeze frame on 4K UHD frames of the film and pour over every detail, and that’s just exactly what Kip has done not just for these decals but for the Ecto-1 in general as he strives to make every replica out there as authentic to the real deal as possible.
Ultimate84 is offering two versions of the decals for your use: an inkjet (digital) version limited to 200 sets at $225 and a rarer hand-screen printed edition limited to 40 sets. The latter, Kip is working to make sure are only used on as many ‘59 Miller Meteor Cadillacs as possible to make them completely screen accurate.
The production run is happening now and orders start shipping in September, so if you can’t live without these - make sure to head over to their website and order them today!
