This week on the Crossrip, we're catching up on news including the DVD/Blu-ray release of Ghostbusters: Answer the Call and more! There's a lot of marketing and merchandising surrounding the home video release and Troy and Chris break down the press appearances and special events that are on the docket including an appearance by Ray Parker Jr. and Paul Feig on the TODAY Show. The LEGO Dimensions expansion pack is out and the boys talk a little about a surprise cameo that has everyone talking, and that leads to a little conversation about the 2009 Ghostbusters: The Video Game. Ernie Hudson is hitting Oklahoma for Halloween. Lots of merch coming out including Ghostbusters International #9, Diamond Select Wave 4 action figures, and a whole lot more. It's a packed episode but we even snuck in a view listener voicemails!

#240 - "Ghostbusters: Answer the Call Extended Cut Pseudo-Commentary" - October 3, 2016

Have you picked up Ghostbusters: Answer the Call on digital release? Have you made it through the hours and hours of bonus features and still want more? Don't worry, we've got you covered! Even though there are two fantastic filmmaker commentaries on the extended cut of the film, we've got sort of a "pseudo-commentary" of sorts for you. This isn't scene specific, but Troy and Chris talk about the additions and the changes in the extended cut, as well as what the two hours of deleted and alternate scenes have revealed with the release. And while it's not a proper, in-sync, scene-specific, it does match up to the film Dark Side of the Moon style if you start the episode around the same time as the podcast!

#239 - "Into the Ghostbusters Dimension" - September 26, 2016

This week on the show, a little something different - Troy is on vacation with his lovely wife, and he was able to coax her into jumping into the VOID Virtual Reality experience at Madame Tussauds NYC called "Ghostbusters Dimension." If you haven't heard about it, it's a fully immersive virtual reality experience that allows you to strap on a proton pack and walk through a virtual Ghostbusters world, interacting with your surroundings, and letting you bust some heads - in a spiritual sense, of course. Listen to Troy and Kelly's thoughts on the VR experience and how much they're creeped out by wax figures, this week on the Crossrip!

#238 - Marie Hicks, Ph.D/Asst. Professor History of Technology - September 19, 2016

This week on the show we're joined by special guest, Marie Hicks, Ph.D - an Assistant Professor and Historian of Technology and Gender, and she might also happen to be the person that inflated a Stay Puft lawn decoration in her living room. We'll talk to her about the living room incident as well as discuss the social impact and debate that surrounded Ghostbusters: Answer the Call. But before that - news of course! This week marked the 30th Anniversary of The Real Ghostbusters originally airing, and the boys talk a bit about how they celebrated. Bill Murray is being honored by the Kennedy Center, Halloween is in the air (and so is all of the corresponding merchandise), and the Little Golden Books have hit the shelves! It's a jam-packed episode you won't want to miss! For more on Marie head to her website: www.mariehicks.net

#236 - Ghostbusters Answer the Call Blu-ray Discussion with Tyler Foster/Writer and Contributor for DVDTalk - September 5, 2016

Ghostbusters: Answer the Call is coming to Blu-ray (in a variety of Blu-ray formats) and it's jam-packed with bonus features, so we called in the big guns with Tyler Foster of DVDTalk to break it all down for us. But before the interview, as always a little bit of news including the re-release of Ghostbusters: ATC in theaters, Steve Johnson's new book, and Chris and Troy's revelation that they're about four issues behind on IDW's Ghostbusters International. Join us this holiday weekend, won't you?

#235 - "Post-Film Release Malaise" - August 29, 2016

This week on the show, Troy and Chris talk through a little bit of a post-film release malaise. With the adrenaline running high leading up to the July release of the film, plus a few very disappointing things that have happened lately, the guys need to talk through some stuff. But first, a little bit of news including the Japanese release of the new film (which includes some cool merch items including 12" figures from Bandai) and a little Ghostbusters International and IDW Comics chat.

#234 - "Chris and Ryan's Excellent Road Trip Adventure" - August 22, 2016

Troy is in the final hours of a work project and Chris is sitting on patios, refusing to come inside and record things. Rather than leave a hole in our otherwise flawless weekly run, this is the perfect time to run a special episode we’ve had in our back pocket for awhile. Recorded back in May, Ryan Doell of the Ghostbusters of British Columbia and Chris hit the road in search of Ghostbusters merch, which had become available stateside just a couple weeks before, but only in the US.

Bear in mind, the new movie was still two months away when the trip was made, so if references seem dated, well, they are. And the audio is a bit car-phone-ish, but is pretty clear, so while it’s not up to our usual in-studio quality, it’ll do.

The topics are mostly Ghostbusters, with the occasional side-topic and while this is definitely one of our longer episodes, imagine how long it would have been if we hadn’t cut out the 40 minutes of being mildly lost!

And now a special Crossrip presentation of the two funniest guys in the car, as voted by the only two guys in the car. Enjoy and we’ll be back with a regular episode next week as usual.

Unless Troy has been hauled off for observation.

#233 - "The Sky Is Falling! Everyone To The Lifeboats! (Not really.)" - August 15, 2016

This week on the show, Troy and Chris discuss the article that went 'round the world saying that Ghostbusters is heading for a loss of $70mil and the future of the franchise is in jeopardy... then goes on to say that an animated movie and series are on the way and a Sony rep told them their loss calculation was way off. Huh? Yeah, buckle up - this one's going to take a little bit of discourse. After that, a little news including the DVD/Blu-ray release date for Ghostbusters: Answer the Call, Leslie Jones at the Olympics, a Q&A with Kate McKinnon, and a merch round up (spoiler alert: we're really jealous of everyone in Japan).

#232 - Jesse Wilson/Co-Founder For the Win Project - August 8, 2016

On this week's show, Troy and Chris speak with Jesse Wilson, co-founder of the For the Win project about an upcoming event they're planning for one lucky Ghosthead. If you want to contribute to the fundraiser for Braeden's day as a Ghostbuster, go to www.gofundme.com/braedenforthewin or visit forthewinproject.org.

#231 - Cyclotron: Ghostbusters Answer the Call - Story and Characters - August 1, 2016

But before that, there's a little bit of news including a very special fundraiser underway to make little Braeden a Ghostbuster from the For the Win Foundation. #225 - Alex Langley/Psychology of Ghostbusters - June 13, 2016

This week on the show, we're joined by psychology professor and author of the Geek Handbook, Alex Langley. Alex joins us to chat a little about the in-world psychology of Ghostbusters (ie. the phrase "I ain't afraid of no ghosts" and how humor helps disarm stressful situations, why the hell do crowds gather around the hellmouth where the world might be ending?), then chats a little about the general social media response to the new Ghostbusters, the very polarized views, and introduces Troy and Chris to the concept of "weaponized nostalgia." We also talk with Alex a bit about the benefits and the detriments of having these extended adolescences, purchasing toys and playing dress up as adults. This is one you won't want to miss.
